Batteries Plus is an American specialty retail chain of franchise outlets that sells and recycles batteries of varying sizes and voltages. Batteries Plus offers various replacement batteries ranging in size and voltage that provide power to operate consumer electronics, watches, cell phones, digital cameras, automobiles, and other devices that require DC power. Founded in 1988 with a single store in Green Bay, Wisconsin, the chain is now the largest and fastest-growing battery retailer with over 700 locations nationwide (about 84% are franchises). In 2012 Batteries Plus began the process of changing its name to Batteries Plus Bulbs, to reflect the addition of a selection of light bulbs to its inventory of products. This branding was reverted in 2021 back to Batteries Plus, though locations still carry lighting. In 2016, the private company was acquired by Freeman Spogli & Co. for an undisclosed amount. The chain is headquartered in Heartland, WI.
