ALDI is a small-format supermarket chain focused on creating an efficient shopping experience, saving customers time and money without compromising quality. ALDI primarily offers a range of custom-branded grocery items, including produce, meat, and dairy, which are often similar to and produced by major brands. They also carry select branded products. Originally founded in 1913, the family-owned business was divided in 1961 into two groups: ALDI South and ALDI North. ALDI South opened its first U.S. store in Iowa in 1976, while ALDI North acquired the American chain Trader Joe’s in 1979. As of 2024, ALDI South operates over 7,500 locations across 11 countries, including more than 2,400 in the United States. ALDI South employs over 210,000 people worldwide. In 2023, ALDI USA continued its significant growth, adding over 100 stores and reaching a revenue of approximately $130 billion. Globally, ALDI South achieved an income of over $90 billion in 2023.
